The new generation Ford GT isn’t just another modern supercar, it’s one of the most deliberate halo cars of its era. Built in strictly limited numbers and only offered to approved owners, exclusivity was baked in from day one. The 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 may sound unconventional, but it delivers relentless performance, underpinned by an obsession with aerodynamics and weight saving that sets it apart from its contemporaries.
What really defines the GT is how uncompromising it feels. Every element of its design serves a purpose, from the dramatic flying buttresses to the teardrop cabin and active aero. Carbon fibre runs through its core, and the driving position, with fixed seats and an adjustable pedal box, reinforces its race-bred focus. This isn’t a supercar trying to balance luxury and usability, it’s a road-legal race car that happens to be usable.
Its significance goes far beyond the numbers. The GT carries genuine motorsport pedigree, from the dominance of the Ford GT40 in the 1960s to the modern car’s class win at Le Mans in 2016. That direct link to racing success, combined with its rarity and unmistakable design, is what places the Ford GT firmly in collector territory as one of the standout modern icons.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- The new Ford GT is technically wonderful, brilliant to drive. Absolutely superb on a track and immensely desirable.
- In Track mode the way the GT stops for, and turns into corners becomes a little bit ridiculous, frankly. You also notice the absence of weight that it carries, and the pure precision this lends it, everywhere. In Track mode it is fair to say that the GT is utterly spectacular to drive.
- Given the small numbers of New Ford GTs out there and the fact that they will never be topped on Ford’s chart of internal combustion-engined roadgoing cars, it’s difficult to see anything other than a steepening upwards price curve.
