The Ferrari SF90 Stradale represented a major turning point for Maranello. As Ferrari’s first series-production plug-in hybrid, it combined a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with three electric motors to produce 1,000 cv, delivering four-wheel drive and performance that, even several years after its launch, remains extraordinary. With 0-62 mph taking just 2.5 seconds, the SF90 brought genuine hypercar performance into Ferrari’s series-production range and laid the foundations for the hybrid technology now seen across much of the modern Ferrari line-up.

This example is further enhanced by the highly desirable Assetto Fiorano package, developed specifically to make the SF90 lighter, more focused and more capable on track. It adds GT racing-derived Multimatic dampers, titanium springs and exhaust system, extensive use of carbon fibre and a larger carbon rear spoiler, while reducing weight by approximately 30kg. The result is a noticeably more purposeful version of the SF90 and, for many collectors and enthusiasts, the specification to have.

The SF90’s significance has become even clearer with the arrival of its replacement, the 849 Testarossa, which develops 1,050 cv from an evolution of the same V8 hybrid concept. Yet against the cost of Ferrari’s latest flagship models, the SF90 now represents remarkable value: a 1,000 cv Ferrari offering extraordinary performance and some of the most advanced technology Ferrari had ever fitted to a road car, at a price point that is increasingly difficult to ignore. In Assetto Fiorano form especially, it remains one of the most focused and technically significant Ferraris of the modern era.
