The Porsche 911 Dakar represents one of the most unconventional interpretations of the 911, taking the performance of the Carrera 4 GTS and adapting it for genuine off-road capability. Inspired by Porsche's historic victory in the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally, it features a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 473 bhp, all-wheel drive and specially developed all-terrain tyres. Its revised suspension provides an additional 50mm of ground clearance over a Carrera with sports suspension, with a further 30mm available through the adjustable lift system. Limited to 2,500 examples worldwide, the Dakar offers a unique combination of sports car performance and rally-inspired engineering.
This particular example takes the Dakar's already extraordinary character a step further with the desirable Rallye Sport Package, incorporating a roll bar, six-point racing harnesses and fire extinguisher. The Lightweight Carbon Roof, exposed carbon exterior details and High-Gloss Black Exterior Package further emphasise its motorsport-inspired character. Inside, the Race-Tex Interior Package is complemented by Extended Leather and Matt Carbon trim, creating a purposeful cabin that feels every bit as special as the car itself. The Burmester High-End Surround Sound System adds a welcome touch of luxury to an otherwise uncompromising concept.
What makes the Dakar so remarkable is just how far Porsche was willing to push the 911 formula. While the GT3 RS and other high-performance derivatives pursue ever-greater precision and circuit performance, the Dakar takes that same engineering obsession and applies it to an entirely different environment. The idea of a factory-built 911 designed to attack rough terrain, slide across gravel and venture far beyond the tarmac is almost absurd, yet Porsche has made it a reality. With its desirable Rallye Sport Package and lightweight carbon specification, this example embraces the wonderfully unconventional spirit that makes the Dakar one of the most fascinating modern 911s.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- It’s a car that takes terrible conditions and turns them into opportunities.
- Jump it, splash it, skid it, bop it, the Dakar will come back for more, and be brilliantly entertaining in the process.
- The Dakar is sensational.
