The Porsche 918 Spyder is one of the defining hypercars of the modern era. Limited to just 918 examples worldwide, it marked a pivotal moment not only for Porsche but for performance cars as a whole, proving that hybrid technology could enhance, rather than dilute, driver engagement.

At its heart sits a naturally aspirated 4.6-litre V8 derived from Porsche’s RS Spyder LMP2 programme, paired with two electric motors resulting becoming the fastest road-going Porsche ever built and it famously lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in under seven minutes, resetting expectations for what a hybrid hypercar could achieve.

As one third of the so-called “Holy Trinity”, alongside the LaFerrari and the McLaren P1, the 918 rewrote the hypercar rulebook. A decade on, it remains arguably the most usable of the trio, combining devastating pace with everyday drivability, removable roof panels and genuine long-distance comfort.
