Model Overview

The new Defender was arguably the most anticipated car of 2020, bringing the Defender into the modern era by applying the latest technology available from Land Rover. The upgrades are instantly apparent. From its modern edgy style to the series of onboard computers and stability systems, the new Defender is without a doubt a change for the better. Incorporating computers into everything the Defender does makes for a much more refined driver experience over the previous analogue drive.

The V8 Defender tops out the range and as the name suggests features the mighty supercharged 5.0L V8 which features in many other high powered JLR products producing a plentiful 525hp along with a healthy serving of 625Nm of torque. All of this results in some scarcely believable performance figures for a 2.5-ton behemoth of a car, 0 - 62mph takes just 4.9 seconds, topping out at just shy of 150mph. In order to reign all this extra grunt in Land Rover have kindly fitted the V8 with uprated suspension, beefier brakes and an all-new electronic differential and traction control program. Land Rover really have given this the full beans, making this the ultimate modern-day Defender.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY

  • The Defender V8 is a very entertaining, very charismatic car that’s sure to make you giggle like an overly caffeinated school child every time you drive it
    CAR Magazine
  • On the road it’s smooth, refined and still very, very fast. The Defender V8 isn't the sensible choice by any means. But it is a pretty lovely one.
    Autocar
  • The Land Rover Defender V8 goes like stink, makes a terrific noise and looks tough as hell doing it.
