The Lamborghini Huracán, meaning ‘hurricane’ in Spanish, was first introduced to the world at the Geneva Auto Show in 2014. It represents a huge leap forward over its predecessor the Gallardo. Due to its aluminium and carbon fibre construction its chassis manages an 8% reduction in weight and yet a 50% increase in stiffness. Partner this with that ferocious, howling 5.2L V10 developing over 600hp, running through the first double-clutch transmission ever fitted to a Lamborghini and you have the perfect storm for some devastating performance. The Haldex Gen-V four-wheel drive system is now capable of shifting up to 50% of the power to the front wheels and 100% to the rear wheels, depending on which setting you have the car in, STRADA, SPORT or CORSA. These settings can be controlled from the steering wheel mounted Anima Switch which controls multiple additional aspects of the car’s setup including engine, gearbox and exhaust note. Overall the Lamborghini Huracán provides all the drama and excitement expected from a Lambo but with the German reliability, build quality and driver convenience inherent with Audi’s influence, to create a far more complete supercar than Lamborghini’s of yesteryear. This is the original Huracán LP 610-4 that paved the way for the list of different variants of the Huracán available today.
