The Boxster Spyder is Porsche’s most extreme and track-focused version of the 718 Boxster, essentially acting as the “Cayman GT4” of the Boxster model line. It inherits the 4L flat-six engine found in the GT4, meaning it produces 414 bhp and manages 0-62mph time of just 3.9 seconds with the PDK gearbox. Many have hailed the 718 Boxster Spyder as one of the best Porsches ever made, with handling and driver involvement unmatched by its rivals and an ability to still retain comfort and daily-drivability.
Stylistically, the Boxster Spyder borrows the Cayman GT4’s more aggressive front-end styling, with larger grilles and splitter. The roof, when up, creates flying buttresses that offer a more seamless look to the rear end than the standard Boxster. When in the down position, you are left with two much more prominent bulges in the roof cover which, again, add to the aggressive and more focused look of this car.
With refined steering, suspension and grip stemming from the Cayman GT4 and 911 GT3, the Spyder is without a doubt one of the sharpest and thrilling drivers cars in its category.
