Ferrari, the luxury sports car manufacturer has recently released details of its new first ever four-wheel drive GT model, the Ferrari FF.

The “FF” stands for Ferrari Four, which refers to the four-wheel-drive running gear and four-seater interior. The Ferrari FF has been designed by the Pininfarina, the Italian design house and coachbuilder.

This car which is due to be released for production sometime in 2012, has been touted as the Italian manufacturer’s fastest four-seater car ever!

The Ferrari FF uses a front-mounted 6.3-litre direct injection V12 engine, which produces 651bhp, which is mated to a transaxle, with dual-clutch and an F1 steering wheel style “paddle-shift” gearbox. The FF features other technology like Stop-&-Start technology, which will help the new supercar achieve improved combined fuel economy over many of its siblings.

Ferrari says it will accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 208mph. This 4×4 car has been designed to be used in low grip or snow-covered surfaces, plus more conventional Ferrari situations such as on the track, general roads and city driving.
