Can Range Rover see off emerging new rivals for it’s luxury 4×4 crown?

  • Can Range Rover see off emerging new rivals for it’s luxury 4×4 crown?

Over recent years there has been a lot of talk about 4×4 luxury cars emerging from the likes of Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini and even Maserati to challenge the Range Rover which is still undisputed king of the 4×4. The Porsche Cayenne and the Audi Q7 are currently it’s closest rivals and definitely provide good enough reasons not to buy a Range Rover but when it comes down to the crunch we believe the Range Rover still holds all the aces. But for how long?

With concept cars, rumours and news stories all coming to fruition in 2012 it is now looking very likely that we will indeed see the Lamborghini Urus, the Maserati Kubang and 4×4 offerings from Bentley and Aston Martin within the next 2 years. It is an exciting time for the 4×4 world but it is hard to imagine that the market is big enough for all these luxury cars to be a big success.

Romans are one of the leading independent Range Rover dealers in the UK and we believe that Range Rover are indeed raising their game in an attempt to beat off their new rivals.

The first sign of this will be the brand new 4th generation Range Rover which will arrive in our showroom towards the end of 2012. It will be their most technologically advanced car ever made and will include new styling taken from the hugely successful Evoque. Built around an aluminium monocoque it will be half a tonne lighter than the current Range Rover despite an increase in size and legroom. The interior is set to go up a notch in luxury equating for the increase in price for the top models as well as much improved fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions. There is definitely demand for ultra high-spec luxury Range Rovers witnessed by the demand for the £130,000 Ultimate Edition released recently.

Range Rover will follow this up with a new Range Rover Sport model for 2013 along with hopefully the Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet which is sure-fire bet to be a massive success and has definitely captured the public’s imagination since the concept car was released at the Geneva Motor Show. It will definitely be interesting to see how the industry reacts to the emerging luxury 4x4s and whether they can indeed make a big impression.
