Bentley’s Concept SUV could have been a new luxury sports car model

The much talked about Bentley ‘EXP 9 F concept’ SUV was unveiled at this month’s Geneva Motor Show looks likely to be the eventual choice of Bentley luxury cars. Apparently the company is reported to have also considered a sports car model as an addition to the range, but finally went with the development concept of a new SUV.

It is understood that a sports car model was finally dismissed as the company felt that it would have been in direct competition with the Porsche 911 Turbo, which is popular model from the Group’s sister brand Porsche. In the end it looks like Bentley have decided to head down the supreme luxury SUV route, as the competition in this vehicle sector is somewhat limited currently.

The Bentley ‘EXP 9 F concept’ Luxury SUV is rumoured to go into production by 2016 and expected to be powered by 600bhp W12 Bentley petrol engine, although we expect that Bentley will be offer a V8 turbo-diesel and possibly a plug-in hybrid by the SUV’s eventual launch.
