The GT3 Touring has become the enthusiast’s GT3 - the car for those who want all the motorsport engineering and naturally aspirated drama of Porsche’s 4.0-litre flat-six, but without the shouty aero. With 503bhp and a spine-tingling 9,000rpm redline, it remains one of the last truly analogue performance cars in a world moving rapidly towards hybridisation and EVs.
The new 992.2 evolution refines the recipe further. Visually, it keeps the Touring’s understated silhouette with its discreet retractable spoiler, but gains a redesigned rear end with a new diffuser, fresh details and a sharper front bumper which now integrates the DRLs into the main headlights. The real headline, though, is inside - brand new foldable bucket seats finally allow access to optional rear seats, making this the first GT3 that can genuinely play the role of family Porsche. Realistically, it’s still more about school runs for the kids than carrying four adults, but it adds a new layer of usability without diluting the car’s purpose.
Porsche has also introduced weight-saving options like the £29k Lightweight Package, which brings magnesium wheels, carbon chassis components and a short-shift 6-speed manual, all adding further appeal to the purist driver. The result is a Touring that is not only more practical but also sharper and more rewarding than ever - arguably the sweet spot of the entire 911 range and the definitive iteration of Porsche’s most beloved modern GT car.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- It’s completely absorbing, properly exciting and endlessly entertaining.
- Outstanding. Torque might be down on the previous generation but every single one of the other changes made to the 992.2 GT3 have elevated the car even further. And now that it comes with four seats, it’s difficult to think of any other way to improve it.
- It’s a car characterised by perfect compromises: supple enough to be comfortable yet taut enough to feel alive, alert because of the four-wheel steer but never nervous, exhilarating to chase every rev in while also agreeable company at low and cruising speeds.
