The new Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 S E saloon represents a dramatic evolution of the classic high-performance C-Class, ditching the traditional AMG V8 in favour of a cutting-edge plug-in hybrid powertrain. At its core is a highly boosted 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine coupled with an F1-derived electric motor and a high-performance battery, producing 671 bhp and more than 750 lb-ft of torque - figures that outstrip many of its V8 predecessors. While able to travel short distances on electric power alone, its hybrid setup also supports advanced all-wheel-drive dynamics via AMG’s Performance 4MATIC+ system and an innovative rear electric drive unit, blending daily usability with super-saloon pace.
