Standing on the shoulders of giants, the McLaren P1 follows as the spiritual successor to the legendary McLaren F1. Built in 1993 the F1 redefined what a road-legal supercar was capable of and 20 years on this gauntlet has been passed on. The name “P1” relates to pole position or position 1 in Formula One, which immediately showed the world McLaren’s intentions with this car and hinted at the level of Formula 1 technology packed inside.
Being 1 of 375 units worldwide, the McLaren P1 is already considered to be one of the modern greats and a true collectible following in the footsteps of the now hugely valuable F1. The McLaren P1 is also part of the 'Holy Trinity', the game-changing trio of hybrid hypercars which took the world by storm and continue to be some of the most sought after cars in the world for collectors and investors.
Designed, engineered and built to be the best driver's car in the world with 903bhp and 664 lb ft of torque from the familiar 3.8L V8 Twin-Turbo; the P1 accelerates from 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds via the rear wheels and it's seven speed twin-clutch transmission. Top speed is 217mph.
The chassis is a carbon fibre Mono-cage weighting in at 90kg. The brakes are carbon ceramics, the car has active aerodynamics (up to 600kg of downforce in Race mode) and each corner is controlled by McLaren's Race Chassis Control active dampers. Just like the current F1 cars, the P1 features Drag Reduction System (DRS) that stalls the rear wing to give more straight line performance as well as IPAS for more power.

WHAT THE JOURNALISTS SAY
- “A true feat of automotive engineering, the P1 was just as much of a ground-breaking piece of design as its predecessor the F1"
- “The P1's steering is light and full of that delicious fingertip feel so intrinsic to the McLaren experience”
- "What made the P1 so epic was that the power existed alongside a deft, delicate, hyper-engaging mid-engined sports car. A beautiful-looking one, too."
