Dodge is a manufacturer that is scarcely found in the UK, with the likes of the Viper and Challenger Hellcat being imported in drips and drabs. The RAM TRX is no exception to this rule – we can bet that you’ve never seen one on a UK road and if you have, it’s a sight you’d definitely remember.

Weighing in at just under three tonnes and sporting the dimensions of a small building, the RAM TRX has undeniable road presence. The large grille, accompanied by wide wheel arches and a bulging bonnet is enough to let other drivers know that this is a serious bit of kit, before we even touch on performance.

Under the hood is a ludicrous 6.2-litre, supercharged V8 engine lifted from a Hellcat, which, alongside an 8-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive, helps shift the truck from 0-62 in a very impressive 4.5 seconds. The engine also produces just under 700bhp and 650lb/ft of torque which comes in handy for more spirited drives. Bilstein adaptive dampers come as standard with the TRX and improve the ride quality immensely. Various drive modes will quickly adapt the suspension settings appropriately for the terrain, whether it’s sand, mud or water.

Overall, the RAM TRX is an ultra-rare and incredibly capable machine. Its size and weight are negated by the awesome engine which not only does a great job of making this car a rocket ship for the road, but it also sounds the part with the unmistakable growl of an all-American V8.
