Being 1 of 375 units worldwide, the McLaren P1 is already considered to be one of the modern greats. An awe inspiring hypercar and the spritual successor to what is widely considered the most collectable modern car in the world - the McLaren F1.
Designed, engineered and built to be the best driver's car in the world, the P1 is one of the latest generation hybrid hypercars that has taken the world by storm. With 903bhp and 664 lb ft of torque from the familiar 3.8L V8 Twin-Turbo seen in the 12C, 650S, 675LT and 570S; the P1 accelerates from 0-62mph in just 2.8 seconds via the rear wheels and it's seven speed twin-clutch transmission. Top speed is 217mph.
The chassis is a carbon fibre Mono-cage weighting in at 90kg. The brakes are carbon ceramics, the car has active aerodynamics (up to 600kg of downforce in Race mode) and each corner is controlled by McLaren's Race Chassis Control active dampers. Just like the current F1 cars, the P1 features Drag Reduction System (DRS) that stalls the rear wing to give more straight line performance as well as iPas for more power.
If the P1 doesn't offer enough performance for you, then McLaren produced a track oriented version called the P1 GTR. Only 35 examples where built and the car offers performance worthy to challenge the world's best GT3 professional racing categories.
Competing against the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari, the P1 beats the 918 Spyder by 29bhp but the LaFerrari has 50bhp more power. More astounding is that the car will run in pure electric mode and can even return 34mpg unlike the LaFerrari which can't run in pure electric. It's no doubt that the P1 is already a legend.
