With a brand new model being released in 2013 Audi decided the RS6 would be only be for sale as an Avant (Estate) much like the latest Audi RS4 but they are set apart due to the RS6 being larger in size and possessing superior power.
The RS6 Avant is now entering it’s 3rd generation with the previous model which was available as both an estate and a saloon having been given a limited run from 2008 to 2010. The saloon RS models now come purely as the RS5, a sports coupe while a much larger RS7 Sportback was released in 2013 as well.
Based on the Audi A6 but like all Audi RS models the RS6 comes with the Quattro 4-wheel drive system focusing on high performance and it delivers in a big way. It is regularly observed as a supercar in an estate’s body providing its owners the practicality of a great family car with it’s huge boot and everyday usability but effortless power and performance for the more discreet and understated enthusiast.
The previous RS6 has held a place high in enthusiasts’ hearts being praised for it’s unbelievable power thanks to the 5.0L twin-turbo V10 beast of an engine also used in the Lamborghini Gallardo. This time around Audi have decided it can achieve even better performance by using a more efficient 4.0L V8. Acceleration times are almost unbeatable to it’s rivals and though it’s not always the most engaging car to drive Audi have produced another fine RS model in which practicality, luxury and performance provide a great package for it’s owners.
