The Jaguar F-Type: The Spiritual Successor to E-Type Jag?

The classic English marque Jaguar, which has been responsible for producing some of the most beautiful and exciting manufacturer of performance luxury cars, has announced this week they will be producing their F-Type sports car model. This new Jaguar F-Type, is it the spiritual successor to E-Type Jag?

The F-Type Jaguar was first seen when it was unveiled at last autumn’s Frankfurt Motor Show in the guise of the concept luxury sports car the Jaguar C-X16. Apparently due to the cars’ popularity and the overall welcome response and reaction from the automotive press, critics and the viewing public, the Jaguar Land Rover Group (JLR) have decided to accelerate the F-Type’s development. Jaguar has also said they expect the new F-Type sports car should be ready to go on sale around mid-2013.

The F-Type looks hardly changed from the previously seen Jaguar C-X16 concept, the F-Type is expected to feature an all-new 3.0-litre supercharged V6 engine, which should be able to produce around 360-380bhp. A four cylinder engine option is expected at some stage, but the hybrid model featured in the C-X16 concept seen at the Frankfurt Motor Show is not likely to be seen until the F-Type production is well under way.
