A vehicle of true rarity has recently been produced for a private collector. The car is a one of a kind Ferrari Superamerica 45 and was commissioned by Peter Kalikow from New York. The idea behind the special Ferrari model was to commemorate 45 years since Mr. Kalikow’s bought his first Ferrari sports car. 8 The Ferrari Superamerica 45 was designed and built by the Ferrari Special Projects team, who are the team behind one-off built supercars for people who are wealthy enough to commission them.

The vehicle, which is based on the Ferrari 599 GTB, features a complex bespoke one-piece rotating convertible roof top which has been constructed entirely from carbon-fibre. The 599’s boot has been completely re-engineered to incorporate the roof.

Mr Kalikow’s concept for the car came from one of his favourite Ferraris – a 1961 400 Superamerica. This car has been finished in the same blue colour and the Superamerica 45 also takes influence from the Ferrari SA APERTA, which was originally built to commemorate Ferrari’s 80th anniversary.
