Lamborghini Unveils their Concept 4×4 SUV: The Urus

The much rumoured and talked about Lamborghini SUV named The Urus, has broken cover and been unveiled for its world premiere at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show this week. The Italian manufacturer Lamborghini, known for their exotic luxury cars, are looking to break into the prestigious end of the SUV market.

They’re looking to compete with the likes of Porsche, BMW, Range Rover, Audi and other premium luxury marques for SUV market share, as well as fill demand for SUVs in markets like India, South America, the Middle East, Russia, USA and China.

This is not the first time Lamborghini have produced an SUV; during 1986 – 1992, the company made their mighty Lamborghini LM002, which featured their 444bhp 5.2-litre V12 engine from the Countach and had a top speed of 130mph. In its day, there wasn’t much that could come close and even Hummer hadn’t been established yet.

The Lamborghini Urus is expected to get a V10 or V12 engine pushing out around 600bhp, similar to that found in Aventador or Gallardo, and permanent all-wheel drive, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
