Hennessey Venom GT breaks new world speed record

  • Hennessey Venom GT breaks new world speed record

The Hennessey Venom GT has set a new world speed, overtaking the Bugatti Veyron Supersport to take the crown as the fastest car in the world.

Romans International have had the priviledge of having the only Hennessey Venom GT for sale in the UK so we are very happy for John Hennessey and his team who we regularly keep in touch with. We are also in a position to take new orders for the last few remaining cars that will be built so please do get in touch as soon as possible if you or someone you know would consider purchasing what is now the fastest car in the world!

The moment of motoring history was made on Valentine’s Day at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida – an appropriate setting for what serves as a giant leap in the world of motorsport engineering on the hallowed ground of the American Space Program. The car was piloted down the 3.2 mile runway by racing driver Brian Smith, the manager of Miller Motorsport Park, who managed to reach 270.49mph before having to slow down because of the lack of room. The engineers think that if the track had been longer, we would certainly be looking at an even greater record. The video of the record being broken shows off the incredible power of the engine, hammering from 20mph to 120mph in just 7.79 seconds; the Venom GT then went from 120mph to 220mph in little under ten seconds. Incredibly, the model was still accelerating at 1mph per second between 260mph and 270mph. The credentials are perhaps even more impressive when it is taken into account that the Venom GT was covering 120 metres per second at its quickest time.

Crafted by the experts at Hennessey performance engineering, the Venom GT is a car built for the ultimate petrol head and its twin-turbocharged 7.0L V8 mid-mounted engine is one of the various reasons why the model is hot property on the motorsport market. It is a highly modified version of the Lotus Exige, with its bodywork and wheels cast out of carbon fibre contributing to it sporting a curb weight just shy of 1.250kg. No stone has been left unturned to ensure the Venom GT is built for speed and speed alone, and the attention to detail means that 1,244bhp has been packed in under the bonnet.

This pinnacle of automotive brilliance does come at a hefty price, with the cost of the 1,200bhp model starting at $1million.

Speed like no other model

This isn’t the first record this Hennessey model has under its belt, already holding the world’s fastest times in both the 0-300kmh (13.63 seconds) and 0-200mph (14.51 seconds) brackets.
