Hot on the heels of the Audi RS4 Avant being released Audi have now revealed details of the new RS6 Avant which sees some radical changes to the model including saying goodbye to the Lamborghini V10 engine which is being replaced by a twin-turbo V8 engine.

The RS6 has been renowned as being a supercar in a family car’s clothing, it represents unbelievable power to match the likes of a Ferrari but with plenty of space and practicality for the whole family and even a couple of dogs in the boot!

Now packing 552bhp which is actually less powerful than the old model which ceased production back in 2010 but is lighter and faster with the new V8 engine. Top speed is said to reach 190mph with the addition of the Dynamic Plus Pack and 0-60 stands in at 3.9s substantially quicker than the standard Audi R8 despite it’s size difference.

Audi have significantly increased their output of RS models in order to tackle the premium market and go head on with Mercedes AMG with the RS5 in 2010, the RS3 released last year, the new Audi RS4 this year and the RS6 for next year. There is also the addition of the RS5 Cabriolet very soon.

Prices are said to start at £77,000 for the new RS6 and they are planning to make more than double the 5,500 V10 models that were made available in the next year.
