Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster will finally see light of day

Aston Martin have revealed that the V12 Vantage Roadster will get a limited release which comes 3 years after the V12 coupe version was first released into Aston Martin dealers. With much of the attention seemingly on the upcoming new Vanquish model the V12 Vantage had been somewhat forgotten and many people doubted that the soft-top would ever see the light of day.

Details so far state that the drophead will be a folding fabric roof and new suspension will be attempting to balance out the extra weight and rigidity loss coming at the expense of making a convertible. The 5.9L V12 engine will remain the same but speculation is rife that the V12 Vantage Roadster could well be the last ever manual V12 Aston as the Vanquish will be automatic only.

It is rumoured that there might only be about 100 of these available which means the prices are slightly unpredictable at this stage. The coupe cost around £135,000 new but the Roadster could be a great deal more due to it’s status as a one-of-a-kind car that is symbolic in many ways.

Romans believes this is an unexpected move by Aston Martin but one that makes sense to keep up with it’s rivals. With a Vanquish convertible at least a couple of years off, Aston needed something to compete with the likes of the Ferrari California and Bentley GTC which are entering it’s second generation and the new Mercedes SL63 arriving soon. This V12 roadster is sure to be a viable option for those looking to part with that kind of cash for something that feels fresh and exciting.
