Aston Martin revives the Vanquish name for new DBS – Official Details

  • Aston Martin revives the Vanquish name for new DBS – Official Details

Aston Martin have revealed the 2013 replacement for the DBS will be called the Vanquish which reignites the famous name that was last used for it’s flagship model produced between 2001 and 2004. The DBS has had a fine reign but will hand over the throne to the Vanquish which is expected to arrive at Aston Martin dealers at the end of the year.

Romans first revealed the DBS replacement a few weeks ago as a concept car at the Villa D’Este Concours d’Elegance event which is near identical to the official pictures that Aston Martin has now revealed as the Vanquish. With Aston Martin celebrating their 100th anniversary next year the level of expectation will be very high for the new Vanquish model.

The styling is perhaps more representative of the limited edition One-77 using a carbon fibre body and un upgraded V12 engine producing 565bhp which is a substantial increase from the 510bhp of the DBS. 0-62 comes in at 4.1s with a top speed of 183mph.

As for the specifics, there is a new setup for the interior using mobile phone touchscreen technology, a new infotainment system, a carbon fibre ‘Aero-Duct’ rear spoiler and is the first Aston to use launch control. The car is significantly lighter than the DBS and manages to squeeze in 60% more boot space. It will use the Touchtronic II gearbox and customers will have the option of the 2+2 seating arrangement or just the 2 seats.

The DBS will definitely remain as one of the most desirable luxury cars on the market with it’s more aggressive styling and will offer great value when compared with the £190K price-tag of the Vanquish.
