The new 2013 Ferrari California is set to be revealed to the motoring press and visitors at the forthcoming prestigious Geneva Motor Show, which will display many luxury cars from around the world.

Ferrari have announced that the 2013 Ferrari California, the company’s luxury Grand Tourer, will be lighter, more powerful and feature improved handling thanks to the new “handling speciale” package.

Using construction techniques employed by the Scaglietti Centre of Excellence, Ferrari has used aluminium fabrication in building the new California’s chassis, which has seen a significant overall weight saving of 30kg.

Other improvements include new exhaust manifolds and a remapped engine management system, which has seen a further 30bhp being boosted from that glorious sounding 4.3-litre V8, bringing the power output up to 490bhp.

The ‘Handling Speciale’ package offers vastly improved speeds for the electronics, controlling the ‘Magnetorheological’ dampers by a staggering 50 per cent. The package also features stiffer springs for a sportier feel and a new steering box with a quicker steering ratio. So all-in-all, this is set to be an exciting new GT from Ferrari’s Maranello home.
