Model Overview
The Mercedes A-Class has been the entry level Mercedes since it was first launched back in 1997 as a 5-door hatchback with front-wheel drive layout and a sort of unusual shape being short and tall. The second generation in 2008 introduced a 3-door coupe version but kept much of the same style.
The A-Class has never been considered a car that would be in the Romans International showroom, not until 2013 when the Mercedes A45 AMG first went for sale. The A45 was part of a radical new A-Class design which was much longer than previous A-Class models and not as tall, more like a traditional 5-door hatchback in the same vein as the VW Golf.
The A45 uses a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch AMG speedshift transmission with 4-wheel drive capability. Though AMG is famous for the scintillating V8s and V12s it has produced over the years, the A45 represents a slightly new direction for them being such a smaller sized engine but AMG has helped create what is considered to be the most powerful ‘hot hatch’ on the market with 355bhp and a top speed of 168mph and with that kind of performance it’s car we would always be more than willing to offer for sale at Romans.
