Model Overview
The LaFerrari is an incredibly significant car in Ferrari's history. Not only is the model named after the company as when 'LaFerrari' is translated to English means 'The Ferrari', but the car uses the latest and greatest technology from the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team. The LaFerrari is the pinnacle of the Ferrari range with the most outstanding combination of beauty and performance. With previous ancestors like the Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo, it has a lot to live up to and certainly does not disappoint. Brimming with DNA from F1, it produces a whopping 950 bhp from it's hybrid engine meaning the LaFerrari is capable of 0-62 mph in 3.0 seconds and reaching a top speed of 217 mph. Limited to just 499 examples worldwide, it is possibly the world's most exciting hypercar especially with that hugely intoxicating naturally aspirated V12 engine that sounds like a beautiful orchestra. With it's main rivals both having V8's in the McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder; the LaFerrari also has the most power out of the trio.
The LaFerrari was designed at the Ferrari Styling Centre and features a striking and innovative design. Impressively, despite the addition of the KERS system the batteries and numerous electronic components, the engineers have succeeded in ensuring that the LaFerrari's dimensions are no larger than those of the Enzo. Overall, it is a beautiful design that is very aggressive yet elegant at the same time. There we say it will be a timeless design in the years to come. Step inside the interior and the LaFerrari's driving position is an entirely new concept that draws heavily on F1. Both F1 drivers were directly involved in its development, resulting in a functional cockpit that is track inspired. The seats are just pads attached to the carbon tub with the controls adjusting to suit. The pads are bespoke-fitted to the driver and you sit shoulders low and knees high, like in a racing car. There's a full digital dashboard and plenty of Alcantara.
To celebrate Ferrari's 70th birthday, Ferrari later on revealed the LaFerrari Aperta. We believe it is the most desirable and potentially the most valuable modern supercar since the McLaren F1 was introduced over 20 years ago. The LaFerrari Aperta comes with a removable carbon fibre hard top roof, much in the same vein of the Aventador Roadster SV or Carrera GT. To make this possible there was structural changes to the chassis to maintain the cars rigidity and strength whilst keeping the performance the same as the coupe. Only 150 examples worldwide were built and Ferrari hand selected their very best customers for these exclusive cars.
