The BMW M3 is one of the most highly praised sports cars on the market, with a rich history going back all the way to 1986, with the introduction of the E30 M3. Serving as a high-performance variant of the BMW 3 Series, the M3 has undergone many revisions and updates, with a new M3 produced for each generation of 3 Series cars.

The first E30 M3 was intended as a homologation special to satisfy touring and rally car regulations and contained several aerodynamic and mechanical upgrades. The original M3 has a rich history in motorsport, winning various touring and rally car championships. The M3 line’s motorsport success continued, with later models competing in Le Mans, 24 Hours of Nürburgring, 24 Hours of Spa, and in DTM – picking up numerous wins and championships along the way.

The most recent addition to the M3 family is the G80/G81 generation, introduced in 2020. Powered by a 3.0L twin-turbocharged straight-six engine, it is the first generation with all-wheel drive (xDrive) as an option, on top of the standard rear-wheel drive seen on the previous M3s. Another notable first for this generation is the introduction of the eagerly awaited M3 Touring, an extremely popular variant of the M3.

Consistently ranked as one of the greatest sports cars of all time, the M3 remains the pinnacle of BMW engineering and styling – a true driver’s car.
