The Smart EQ Fortwo is perhaps the perfect town car – it can weave through tight streets like a moped and park almost anywhere. As one of the smallest electric cars on the market, not only will you be surprised by its manoeuvrability, but its character will charm you more so than the latest and greatest hypercar.
With a single electric motor powering the rear wheels, the ForTwo doesn’t boast the performance figures of the more expensive Tesla or Porsche EV’s, but the instant torque of an 82bhp electric motor is more than enough to make you grin from ear to ear whilst navigating the traffic-ridden city streets on your commute. Getting from 0-37mph in 4.8 seconds, you will get up to city traffic speeds in no time at all. The electric acceleration gives you the ability to get through that temperamental set of traffic lights, or make a dash for those chancier gaps in traffic that you just wouldn’t make in a bigger car, EV or otherwise. The tiny 6.95m turning circle will also give you the benefit of tighter U-turns and manoeuvring around a multi-story with ease.
The ForTwo is also equipped with a 22kW on-board charger, giving you an 80% battery top up in just 40 minutes, meaning it is a very usable daily car to run around town in. With a range of around 80 miles, you can comfortably drive your commute, run some errands, and pick up a friend on a single charge.
This model is the Brabus-badged Racing Green Edition – aptly named for its Racing Green metallic finish and various Brabus upgrades, both inside and out. Sitting on 16” Brabus Monoblock XI Black Alloy wheels, and receiving the Brabus treatment inside with Cognac Nappa Leather adorning the interior, this is a Smart Fortwo like no other. It feels more luxurious than its standard counterpart, with more exclusive materials like aluminium gear sticks, handbrake levers, and sports pedals.
This is such an interesting example of an already fun and exciting car, making the perfect addition to the garage in a time where fuel prices are rising and EV’s are becoming more and more prevalent in our day-to-day lives.
"In crowded streets it's agile like a little kitten, as parkable as your shoes, fresh-breeze clean and as cheap as the coffee you drink on the way to work" - Top Gear
"Smart EQ ForTwo reminds us why electric cars first started appearing as smaller models: it’s agile, brisk and almost the ideal car around town" - Car Buyer
"Arguably the most joyous part of the drive comes with the ForTwo’s turning circle. At 6.95 metre space is all it needs to turn back on itself - less even than a London taxi" - Auto Express
