In terms of exterior styling the outgoing Macan was one of the better-looking compact SUVs on the market and thus Porsche have been relatively subtle with their stylistic changes. The front sees a new front bumper and LED headlights now introduced as standard, whilst a new double slatted roof spoiler, fully integrated light bar and dual twin tailpipes give the rear of the car a more modern look on every level. Stepping inside, the new Macan still manages to strike that fine balance between the feeling of a modern Porsche sports car and the lofty driving position that draws so many drivers to the SUV platform. A welcome update to the upper portion of the centre console includes a new wider touchscreen, packed with features usually seen in the more expensive model ranges such as the Cayenne and Panamera. The Macan GTS is the more extroverted, driver focused variant in the Macan range. It receives a 15mm drop in ride height with a stiffer suspension setup, in turn allowing the Macan GTS to handle extremely well round corners. Not only does the upgraded suspension benefit performance, but also offers a more refined ride. The 2.9L V6 Twin-Turbo engine in the GTS is tuned to produce 375 bhp with a 0-62 time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 162 mph. With all this performance however the Macan is still a comfortable SUV, with an efficient use of space inside the Macan feels as if the dimensions are greater than they are. Overall the Macan GTS reinforces its position as one of the best compact performance SUVs on the market.
