Model Overview
Romans are proud to offer this stunning 2011/61 Porsche Boxster Spyder for sale presented in 'White' with Black Leather. This beautiful example comes with a fantastic specification and is supplied with Porsche manufacturer's warranty until October 2017.The Porsche Boxster Spyder is a very different car from the standard Boxster S. It's renowned as the purist's version - a car designed first and foremost for driving in the open-air, with high performance and weight saving the overriding factors in it's design.By using various weight saving techniques, the Spyder is a much more focused and exciting car to drive than the Boxster S. The various weight saving measures include the aluminium doors which save 15kg, the one-piece rear deck also made from aluminium which saves a further 3kg. The ten-spoke 19" alloys weigh less than ten kilograms each and the lower side windows also helps reduce weight. The manual folding fabric roof also helps cut weight. The 'cap' - as Porsche calls it - weighs less than 6kg and the carbon fibre frame that supports it is only 5kg. The roof clips onto the windscreen header rail and two hooks fasten onto the rear deck and when you close the Carrera GT style boot, it acts as a lever to pull the roof taught. Top speed is limited to 124mph with the roof in place, but lifted to 166mph without it.There's also lower and this lighter side windows, new front bumper with LED lights, black mesh inserts for the side intakes, a plastic wind deflector between the seats, a high-level third brake lights and a larger fixed rear spoiler.Furthermore, in comparison the Boxster S; the car comes with new Sports Suspension, incorporating shorter, stiffer springs, firmer dampers and new front and rear anti-roll bars. Thanks to a 20mm drop in ride height and the lack of bulk from the lightweight roof, the Spyder's centre of gravity is 25mm lower than in the Boxster S. The car also comes with a mechanical differential as standard. All of these changes mean the Spyder only weighs 1,275kg, meaning it's one of the lightest sports cars out there.Step inside the Spyder and you are immediately greeted by the sports seats, red fabric door pulls, red seat belts and the transmission tunnel painted in the same colour as the exterior. The direct-injection 3.4 litre flat six is the same size as the unit in the Boxster S, but the engine in the Spyder is actually tweaked to the Cayman S tune. Producing 320bhp (10bhp more than the standard Boxster S), peak power output is actually achieved at 7,200rpm, 950 revs above the maximum engine speed of the Boxster S. And rather than the Boxster's spread of 266lb ft from 4400 rpm, the Spyder produces 273lb ft of torque from 4,750rpm.With the seven-speed dual-clutch PDK gearbox, the car accelerates from 0-62mph in just 4.8 seconds if you use launch control and reach a top speed of 166mph. The Boxster Spyder is a fantastic car and has to be one of the best sports cars out there.
