The Audi e-tron represents the brand’s first foray into the all-electric market, although the VW Group has been involved in this technology for many years now which stands the car in good stead. Styling was meant to be and is deliberately textbook Audi, designed to act as an all-electric option to the existing model range. The e-tron S is powered by 3 electric motors, one powering the front wheels and two powering the rear. This makes it the first production vehicle to feature three electric motors. With a combined power of 370 kW for the e-tron S is able to rocket from 0-62mph in just 4.5 seconds due to the 973Nm of torque available for an eight second burst in ‘Boost Mode’. The e-tron S can continue on to a top speed of 130mph. The e-tron S features some additional options as standard, such as Audi Matrix LED Headlights and S-specific exterior details and silver-coloured trim. The wheel arches have been widened and an extended rear diffuser. The Sportback variant allows for a more sport side silhouette however the lowered rear roof line doesn’t compromise on rear space.
Overall, the e-tron S presents itself as a viable alternative to other EVs on the market from a German brand with style, technology and innovation in abundance.
"While the powertrain is a revolution for Audi, the styling deliberately isn’t." - Auto Express
"The E-tron’s seamless power delivery and absence of engine noise made virtually all conventionally powered cars seem clunky and uncouth." - Autocar
"Move over to Sport and power response is instant, the wheel weights up and you feel those nooks and crannies in the surface of the tarmac a little more." - Car Magazine
