The Porsche Taycan represents a new era of not only Porsches, but the sports car world as a whole. As Porsche’s first fully electric production car, it offers a driving experience unlike anything from the Stuttgart based manufacturer. Based on the Mission E concept car, the Taycan is full of exciting technology and state-of-the-art engineering to bring together blistering performance and zero emission driving. The rapid acceleration of an electric car has to be experienced to truly understand how fast these cars are, and the Taycan is one of the fastest ways to experience electric power.
The Porsche Taycan is an incredibly versatile range, with several variants on the market. Whilst the base Taycan is the lowest spec Taycan available, it certainly doesn’t lack in performance or luxury. Coming with plenty of tech as standard, it is an excellent option to start your journey in the electric car market.
A model up from the base Taycan is the Taycan 4S. This model gives you upgraded performance and a few more features as standard. The electric motor creates a cool 563bhp, taking the car from 0-62mph in only 4 seconds.
The Taycan GTS is a step up from the 4S, with a 27bhp upgrade – using a stronger motor on the rear wheels compared to the front making it act more like a RWD. A 0.3 second increase in its 0-62mph time might not seem impressive, but considering we are already below 4 seconds, it is certainly an upgrade over the 4S.
The Taycan Turbo comes next in the line-up, with a dramatic increase in power – 671bhp. Paired with a 0-62mph time of just 3.3 seconds, we are entering supercar territory in a 4-door family car. Coming with even more technology and feature as standard, such as a 14-speaker BOSE Surround Sound, the performance battery, and more styled aerodynamics, the Taycan Turbo is a great upgrade from the lower models in the line-up.
Completing the Taycan group is the Turbo S, the highest spec boasting the best performance, biggest price, and full to the brim with features. With 751bhp, and a 0-60mph time of a neck-breaking 2.8 seconds, there are few cars that can give you that feeling of pure acceleration like the Taycan Turbo S. Featuring exposed carbon fibre styling, a more luxurious interior, and the upgraded performance, the Turbo S is the best of the Taycan range, showing the ultimate in electric performance and comfort that Porsche has to offer.
On top of these Taycan models, you can opt for the standard saloon shape, Cross Turismo, or Sport Turismo variant – each with their own distinctive styling and features. The Sport and Cross Turismo share a shooting brake style, with the Sport being available in RWD, whilst the Cross is available only in AWD and being more off-road capable.
