Audi brought its A7 to the market to compete with Mercedes’ immensely popular CLS – a big, comfy saloon with the style and performance of a sports coupe. It wasn’t surprising when in 2013, Audi announced the RS7, with a 553 horsepower V8 engine, designed to take on AMG’s CLS63.

Of course, the RS7 was the latest high-performance Audi to capitalise on their legendary Quattro four-wheel drive technology, as well as a practical cylinder-on-demand system that boosted fuel economy and made the RS7 an attractive proposition over its 4-door coupe rivals.

In 2015 came the RS7 Performance, with a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds, in line with its practical estate sibling, the renowned RS6. In fact, it was the sensible nature of the RS6 over the suave lines of the RS7 that made this an attractive proposition – used Audi RS7s are much rarer in number than performance Audi Avants and are a stylish alternative in a still practical package.

The latest Audi RS7 was launched in 2018 with a mild-hybrid drivetrain shared with the RS6, with even more practicality on offer in an updated design – though not lacking any of the famous RS power and Quattro capability!
