Model Overview

The Bugatti Chiron is one of the most iconic and recognisable performance cars in recent years, known the world over as the pinnacle of speed and engineering. The Chiron gets its name from the Monégasque racing driver, Louis Chiron, who raced for Bugatti in the 1920s and 1930s, and was the only Monégasque Formula 1 driver to score points until Charles Leclerc in 2018. The Chiron continues its namesake’s legacy by aiming to be the fastest car in the world, never compromising on speed or performance.

As the successor to the Veyron, perhaps one of the toughest automotive acts to follow, the Chiron has continued the Bugatti record breaking streak, adding to the brands rich pedigree. Since its release, the Chiron has broken a number of world records, including the fastest 0-400-0kmh acceleration time for a production car in 2017 – completing the feat in just 41.96 seconds.

Powered by the colossal 8.0L W16 engine, with a whooping four turbochargers, the Chiron produces a staggering 1,5000PS and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. The impressive numbers don’t stop there, because the Chiron will also go from 0-60mph in 2.3 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of 261mph. The speed must be limited because no currently manufactured tyre could withstand the true top speed of the car, but don’t worry - even at its limited speed, the Chiron is one of the fastest cars in the world. With only 500 made, and at a base price of over £2,000,000, the Bugatti Chiron is one of the most exclusive and outrageous toys that money can buy.

On top of the standard Chiron model released in 2016, there have been several special editions and variations introduced. Just like the Veyron, Bugatti have produced a Super Sport version of the Chiron, with a higher limited top speed and a slight redesign. Other notable special editions include the Chiron Super Sport 300+, built in honour of the prototype car that broke the 300mph barrier, breaking the world record for a pre-production car in the process. The Chiron Profilée is a one-off special edition, including redesigned aerodynamics and the fastest 0-62mph time of the Chiron line-up at just 2.3 seconds. The Profilée was auctioned off in 2023 by RM Sotheby’s, breaking the record of the most expensive car they have ever sold at auction, reaching an eye-watering £8.7m.

There is no doubt that the Chiron is extreme in every way possible – from the speed, acceleration, price, engineering, and design. When it comes to automotive perfection, it is hard to think of any car that comes close to the Bugatti Chiron. A true poster car of the new generation of supercars, the Chiron is certainly one of the most desirable cars on the market – if you are lucky enough to be able to afford one.
