From Wednesday the 4th of July to Sunday the 8th of July, Romans International showcased at the Henley Royal Regatta. It is one of the best-known regatta’s in the world being a highlight of the summer sporting occasions. With a selection of Olympic and amateur crews competing in over 200 races, this occasion is steeped in history and British tradition with over 200,000 visitors attending each year. Being in a stunning location and only an hours drive from central London; this was an unmissable opportunity for us to attend this prestigious event.
During this event we collaborated with China White who have long been considered the centre of the world’s exclusive club scene with long standing relationships with VIPs and celebrities. We were given our own Romans display stand with a space for 3 cars.
For this event we took the Mercedes SLS AMG GT Final Edition, Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster and the McLaren 675LT to display. These three cars were all special limited editions with the SLS AMG GT Final Edition being the final version of the iconic gullwing Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The Aventador SV is the flagship track focused version of the standard Aventador as well as the McLaren 675LT being the hardcore version of the standard 650S. They all certainly caused a stir and attracted lots of attention. We were also given a prime position right by the river with a perfect view of the rowers in action.
Prior to the event starting, we ran a social media competition to treat some of our followers to a great day out. With tickets worth £45 each, we were inundated with applicants but in the end we chose four people to come down to the event each day.
The Henley Royal Regatta started on Wednesday 4th of July but the China White enclosure opened its doors on Friday the 6th of July at 3pm. The atmosphere was brilliant with the DJ playing music all afternoon along with a scintillating visual production. Attendees also enjoyed access to five bars, gourmet street food stands, pop up retailers and beauty parlours. In and amongst this, rowers were racing past in the background and it was a sight to behold with the sun shining ever so brightly and people cheering them on. As the day went on, the China White enclosure got busier and busier with more people arriving.
The following day was an important one. China White were playing the England match on the big screens in their enclosure. With England playing Sweden in the world cup quarter final, everyone was in a spritely mood with great anticipation. We knew the rest of the days proceedings and atmosphere would depend on England’s performance and they did not disappoint. Every time England scored, China White had pyrotechnics going off to add to the celebrations. With England winning, everyone was in a fantastic mood and enjoyed the moment. We took some time out to watch the rowing as well as showing a few guests around the cars we had on display.
Overall, the Henley Royal Regatta was a great event. With over 200,000 people, we had nothing but positive feedback from everyone who saw the cars with the star of the show being the “Blu Glauco” Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster. No wonder as the SuperVeloce (SV) moniker is saved only for hardcore track inspired Lamborghini’s. They are the most extreme versions of its flagship production cars. Limited to only 500 examples worldwide, the SV Roadster features a removable hard top and is rarer than the SV coupe were they are 600 examples. Overall, we would like to thank China White for the exceptional hospitality.
