With many of the biggest luxury sports car companies looking at alternative power and fuel options for their cars, it comes as no surprise that Porsche is planning to add a new Hybrid luxury sports car to its range, which is expected in 2013.
The new car is the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid supercar which will be powered by a V8 four litre petrol engine, producing 500 horsepower and electrical ‘permanently energised synchronous motors’, which will produce over 218 horsepower additionally.
This new Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid was first seen at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, it displays Porsche’s highly innovative motivation to push the boundaries of new technology. The car has been track tested on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany, with impressive results.
On the track the new Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid proved its acceleration from 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of around 198mph. These are impressive results from a technically gifted supercar, with its green credentials.
