While Ferrari are staging a debut for many of their new 2012 models like the Ferrari FF, the California and the much awaited V12 Berlinetta during the 2012 Beijing Motor Show this week, the Italian manufacturer of luxury cars is also busy developing their forthcoming Enzo replacement.
Ferrari is currently planning the new Enzo supercar replacement featuring their 6.3 litre V12 petrol engine, which will also be accompanied with a Hybrid drivetrain. The technology will feature Ferraris latest evolution of the Marenello based company’s ‘Hy-Kers’ electric hybrid system first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show two years ago.
The Hy-Kers electric hybrid system is similar to that which has been developed on the F1 Scuderia Team race cars and is expected to give around 10% boost for the 6.3 litre V12 Enzo supercar replacement model. Additional electric power will be stored and recovered by regenerative braking, as the ‘Kers’ transfers kinetic energy to charge the large Lithium-ion batteries. These batteries will sit low in the chassis, ready for when extra power is required.
This should make the Ferrari Hy-Kers Enzo replacement supercar the cleanest and greenest ever produced and should drop CO2 emissions by an amazing 40%.
