Model Overview

Perhaps the world’s most iconic poster car, the F40 is the ultimate Ferrari for a whole generation of car enthusiasts. Built to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary, the F40 was the successor to the 288 GTO, and was the last Ferrari personally approved by Enzo Ferrari himself. When it was introduced, the F40 was the fastest and most expensive Ferrari for sale.

The car was designed to be the successor to the 288 GTO, which was a race car modified for street use. As opposed to its predecessor, the F40 was designed from the ground up to be a road car, with the essence of the Ferrari racing heritage coursing through its veins.

Built with high-tech materials such as Kevlar, carbon fibre, and aluminium, with weight-saving features like polycarbonate plastic windows, the F40 was unlike any Ferrari previously made. Ferrari had set out to create a pure drivers car, and this meant ditching a stereo system, door handles, glove box, leather, carpets, and even door panels. The lack of creature comforts, as well as driver aids like power steering really set the F40 apart from other Ferraris, both old and new. Paired with a five-speed manual gearbox, there is nothing quite like the F40.

Only 1,311 F40’s were ever produced, making them exceptionally rare and highly sought after. The car of every collectors dreams, it remains one of the rawest and purest Ferrari’s to leave the Maranello factory.
