Noble are a low volume sports super car manufacturer who puts emphasis on quality, speed, drivability through tried and tested design, whilst pushing the boundaries of sports car innovation, without loosing the feel of a real road going sports car. Noble has evolved from the pursuit for excellence in motor engineering with cars primarily designed for speed and handling however this is not at the expense of either comfort or practicality, which puts the driver back in the driver's seat for the ultimate driving experience.

 

All Noble sports cars are hand made and assembled at the UK factory near Leicester. The factory's latest production car, the new Noble M600 is so quick, it has entered the realms of genuine "hyper-car" territory for speed and performance.

 

The breath taking performance statistics are not just down to the power-plant in the Noble M600, which is a mid-mounted, purpose built 4.4 litre V8 Twin turbo charged engine, which produces an impressive 650BHP and is mated to a Graziano 6 speed manual gearbox and a conventional stick shift selection.

 

Noble have researched in the development for the M600 and the company found that many of the currently available ‘supercars' tended to favour heavily on computer assistance for many of their vehicles features in aid to the driver. Noble felt that this can often take away some of the "real feel" experience of the vehicle. For these reasons Noble have not gone for the often fashionable "hand paddle system" (as they feel it is often inefficient) and prefer the tried and tested stick shift design.

 

With the massive 650bhp available to the driver in the Noble M600, power delivery can changed depending on the road conditions or driving style. As in reality this amount of power output, or indeed the power delivery to the wheels, is not always either appropriate or required. So Noble have come up with a solution and the car has an ingenious feature which is adaptable to the driver and type of driving from the power available, its called the APC or the Adaptable Performance Control function.

 

Adaptable Performance Control is a clever function, which allows the driver to select the power output required from the engine which will reflect both the location and suitable driving conditions at that time. The engine has three settings for power, which are easily adjusted by the driver from the dashboard in the cockpit. The first setting is for "road" which gives you 450bhp from the engine, then switch to the "track" setting which pushes the power output up to 550bhp and lastly the "race" setting boosts the power up to 650bhp. Each setting has been designed to be increase the boost curve and throttle response of the car, thus giving the driver more than enough power to play with.

 

Noble states that "The three power settings are titled merely to title and denote the power delivered, the literary terms Road, Track and Race in no way reflect recommended use or location".

 

Crucially the "power to weight ratio" even surpasses that of the Bugatti Veyron (weighing in at a mere 1,250kgs), this is thanks to the space age technology and materials that are likely to be found on a Formula 1 car and other rather expensive road legal super cars. As the light weight carbon fibre composite bodied M600, has been designed to make the car both strong and rigid to assist in giving the car its amazing handling.

 

So, because of this power and weight combination, there have been many suggesting that the Noble M600 will reach 120mph from rest in 8.9 seconds and go on to an estimated superfast 225mph, taking it well over the 200mph supercar speed barrier.

 

Noble also believe in freedom of choice, but not at the expense of safety. So the "traction control" can be totally de-selected, in order that this function is not utilised in error, Noble have provided the ‘are you sure?' function, as a fail-safe switch guard. This function is the same that is used in the likes of military fighter jets to prevent an accidental missile firing, with this facility it ensures a two stage action process is required to de-activate "traction control". As a precaution the traction control is automatically reset to the ‘on' position once the engine is switched off.
