Based in Surrey, Romans offer premium examples of used performance cars and supercars and Pagani has emerged as one of the leading brands at the very top of the supercar world producing various Zonda models including the Pagani Zonda F and more recently the Pagani Huayra.

The luxury Italian supercar manufacturer Pagani Automobili S.p.A. is based in San Cesario sul Panaro, near Modena, Italy and was established in 1992 by Horacio Pagani. Originally he founded Pagani Composite Research in 1988 and formerly managed Lamborghini's composites.

Horacio Pagani, worked with Lamborghini on various projects throughout their collaborative years, this included the restyling of the “25th Anniversary Countach”, the Lamborghini LM002, the P140 design concept, and the formidable Lamborghini Diablo. During the late 1980’s, Pagani began to design his own car, which was referred to with the "C8 Project". Horacio Pagani planned to rename the C8 Project car to the "Fangio F1" to honour his hero the five-time Formula One champion, Juan Manuel Fangio.

1991 saw Horacio establish Modena Design with the aim to meet the increasing demand for his design, engineering and prototyping services which he could offer within his specialist team. During the following year construction began on the construction of his Fangio F1 prototype. The following year saw the car being tested at the Dallara wind tunnel, with extremely positive results. Twelve months later, the German automotive manufacturer Mercedes-Benz agreed to supply the Pagani Company with their powerful AMG V12 engines, this working relationship with Mercedes AMG came about by a reputed suggestion from Fangio himself.

The Zonda supercars used the initial version of the M120 V12 featuring a 6.0 litre engine displacement, but the later and more recent Zonda’s now feature a highly advanced and tuned version of the M120 V12, currently displacing 7.3 litres.

Eventually the C8 Project car (or Fangio F1) was named by Zonda C12 and became the first Pagani Zonda for sale, as the Fangio F1 name was dropped out of respect for Fangio who sadly passed away in 1995. The Zonda C12 was finally finished for it’s unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland in 1999.

During 2005 Pagani announced an increase for the company’s production for the Pagani supercars’ introduction into the USA car market two years later. Since the launch of the original Pagani Zonda C12 production car, there have been a few incarnations of the Zonda with slightly different specifications and other models from the company bearing the Pagani name, including special limited edition models.

The most notable of the Zonda name C12 S 7.3 L, C12 S Roadster, C12 S Monza, Pagani Zonda GR (racing car), Zonda S, Zonda F, Zonda R Clubsport, Zonda Cinque, and Zonda Tricolore. Incidentally in 2010 the Pagani Zonda R claimed a new record for production based cars when it completed the Nürburgring in Germany in 6:47, which knocked the Ferrari 599XX from the top spot. The Zonda 760RS was the latest car to be revealed which Lewis Hamilton was said to have ordered.

Currently the company are working on the all new Pagani Huayra, which will be the eventual replacement for the Zonda, due to be released in 2013. The Pagani Company is expecting to be building a limited quantity of just 40 Huayra units a year. The Huayra was first unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and will feature a formidable 6.0-litre twin-turbo Mercedes-AMG V-12 engine. The new M158 engine producing over 700 horsepower and will be able to accelerate from 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds, with a top speed of around 230mph.
